Since JVS Human Services and Kadima merged on January 1, 2022, we’ve already realized many benefits of this merger and are excited about how it will allow us to continue creating better outcomes and ensure sustainability – for the 12,000 people we serve each year – and especially for the people we serve with disabilities and mental health challenges.
Today, we’re thrilled to share the news that we have officially selected a name for the new organization. Starting today, JVS+Kadima is now Gesher Human Services. Gesher, which is the Hebrew word for “bridge,” is the perfect metaphor to describe our work. We are the bridge to better employment opportunities, to greater independence, to new possibilities, and so much more. As our naming committee continued its discussions, the idea of a bridge and the tagline “The Bridge to Where You Want to Be” was exciting, meaningful, and fitting.
Throughout this exploration, we have all remained steadfastly focused on what is best for the people we serve now, those we can serve in the future, and the needs of our vibrant community. Our new name is only the beginning. As Gesher continues our work, please know that we appreciate your partnership. We are excited to move forward with you through this new, exciting chapter.
Thank you all for your continued support, for your belief in our mission, and for your desire to help us make the world a better place. Without you, this important moment in our organization’s history would not be possible!
