    Office Computer Essentials

    June 26 – August 2

    Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

    Our Office Computer Essentials (OCE) class is an introduction to Microsoft Word and Excel. This class is designed for job seekers wanting to gain office computer skills for increased confidence and preparedness to enter or re-enter the workplace.

    Students will learn to: create and edit Word and Excel files, create pdf files, format text in Word, create headers and footers in a Word Doc, create basic Excel worksheets, use simple formulas in Excel, move files to and from a flash drive, and more. Student must be able to learn independently in a classroom/group setting. Course Pre-requisites: basic keyboarding, email and internet access, and access to a computer for practice.

    After completing this class, the student will be more confidant in a job search for a position that requires proficiency in Microsoft Word/Excel. The student will be able to create a custom resume, write custom cover letters, and have obtained the general computer skills that are expected of an applicant for an entry level office position.

    $499 Scholarships Available (12) 2-1/2-hour classes

    Homebuyer Education Class

    Tuesday, June 20 from 4:00-8:00 pm (virtual)

     

    Taught by Gesher Human Service’s HUD certified homebuyer education counselors, you will learn about the entire homebuying process, including credit education, how to qualify for a mortgage, mortgage terminology, proper home maintenance and how to avoid foreclosure. $50 fee per household. This class is also approved for the MSHDA Down Payment Assistance Program.

    Savvy Savers, sponsored by CIBC Bank, is a program that is currently designed to assist you with becoming a saver, or help you to get started with learning how to save and begin investing. Each monthly meeting will include topics related to improving your savings skills. This interactive and engaging program will match your personal savings up to $500 if you attend three consecutive meetings.

    Computer Basics Class

    June 13 – June 29, 2023

    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 – 3 p.m.

    Students will use our laptops or can bring their own (laptop with Wi-Fi.) Learn the Basic Computer Skills you need for work, school and life. Students will learn the fundamentals of using a computer. Each student will receive a binder textbook/workbook and a portable flash drive to transport files. Classroom time is 12 hours total.

    Computer Basics Class topics include:

    – Keyboard, Mouse and Trackpad usage
    – Navigating the Internet
    – The Cloud
    – Creating, Editing, Naming, Saving and Moving Files
    – Social Media
    – Safety
    – Tech Terms Translated

    This class costs $199. (6) 2-hour classes Partial and full scholarships are available.
