The David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center, a division of JVS, offers “Better Job Opportunities” for unemployed and under-employed workers. The 12-week course in Microsoft Office 2010 is designed to build computer skills to help participants land a new job or snag a promotion. Registration starts now for the course, which begins September 8, 2014. Scholarships are available for eligible applicants, so early registration is recommended.
Students receive 72 hours of hands-on classroom training (two 3-hour sessions per week) that covers Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Access®, Publisher and Outlook®. Upon completion, participants earn a proficiency certificate. The program also includes job preparedness training and seminars. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of proficiency.
The course fee is $720; however, students who are unemployed or underemployed may qualify for scholarships made available through funding from ORT Michigan and The Jewish Fund. Space is limited and an application is required for eligibility. The David B. Hermelin ORT Resource Center is located inside the Jewish Community Center at 6600 W. Maple Road, West Bloomfield.
