21st annual networking event honors inspirational leaders and achievers

Mark Reuss, executive vice president of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain, General Motors Company, will headline JVS’s 21st annual Strictly Business Networking and Awards Luncheon. Serving as honorary chair and keynote speaker, Reuss will welcome an anticipated crowd of over 700 business and community leaders to the fundraising event at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at the MGM Grand Detroit.

“Mark Reuss was born and raised in metro Detroit and has shown a deep commitment to revitalizing the region,” said Beth Gotthelf, shareholder at Butzel Long and Strictly Business co-chair. “He’s a top executive in a remarkable company that was founded in metropolitan Detroit and still remains headquartered here. We’re thrilled he will share his thoughts on workforce development, which is a key part of JVS’s mission.”

Reuss leads the design, engineering, safety, quality, research and development, and advanced vehicle technology of General Motors cars, trucks and crossovers around the world.

In addition to Reuss’ speech, event-goers will also hear from recipients of the 2018 JVS Business Leadership and Rising Entrepreneur awards and will meet individuals whose lives have been transformed by the work of JVS.

Broder & Sachse Real Estate will be honored with the 2018 Business Leadership Award. The company’s strong core values empower team members to make a real difference for their clients and in the community. As part of the company’s commitment to Detroit and its reputation for innovative community-focused urban properties, the firm recently moved its offices to the City of Detroit.

Samantha Friedman, who will receive the 2018 JVS Rising Entrepreneur Award, has leveraged her Fortune 500 marketing experience to muscle her way into the fitness industry. Her Fuse45 studio locations in Royal Oak and West Bloomfield offer a unique high-intensity full-body workout for all ages and fitness levels. Additionally, Friedman has partnered with JVS to provide affordable exercise classes for people living with autism and other developmental challenges.

In addition, Gabby Gibson of St. Clair Shores, Blanca Fauble of West Bloomfield and Mark Linear of Detroit will be honored with JVS awards. Event goers will hear how they overcome obstacles to employment with the help of JVS.

“As we hear their stories, we’ll take inspiration from the challenges they’ve overcome to achieve success,” said Gotthelf.
