Job seekers over the age of 50 struggling with long-term unemployment and the inability to find rewarding second careers can discover new directions in Recharge!, a five-week JVS group career counseling program.
Recharge! helps job seekers reinvent themselves by exploring their passions and strengths to create fulfilling encore careers. Participants are guided through the process of assessing their interests and life experiences. Meeting twice a week, the group covers topics to help members refresh their professional image, examine the local job market, and re-enter the workforce with renewed confidence.
“Working gives people a sense of identity, and without it, they feel lost,” says Sherrie James, JVS career counselor. “Recharge! restores hope for this next stage in life. We help people enter the workforce in a career that will value their level of experience and ability.”
The Recharge! group will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. – noon starting May 24 through June 16 at the JVS Diem Building, 29699 Southfield Road, Southfield. There is a small fee for course materials ($40) to participate. For further information, contact Sherrie James at (248) 233-4472 or sjames@jvs.org; or view the flyer at www.jvshumanservices.org/recharge.
